The Unlimited Bangers travelled to Mildenhall on 18th February for the Shale Shifter Open in support of the 1300 Stock Cars English Championship. 59 cars made the journey to the Suffolk shaleway, with 96 Amber Daniels having the standout car with a Mk3 Ford Granada Hearse.
Heat 1 for the Bangers raised 23 cars. 258 Donny made a beeline for the Mk3 Granada Hearse of 96 BamBam from the off, sending her spinning. 174 Little Rath used his Volvo Limo to deliver a head on to 96 BamBam, which prompted a very early pile up. 291 Giddings jacked 660 Rooge, with 322 Foxy splintering the crusty Mk2 Granada of 291 Giddings. 514 Baby weighed in on 322 Foxy, as 144 Godfrey went in on 514 Baby. 660 Rooge jacked 144 Godfrey, who took another shot from 108 Squeaky leaving the latter’s tender Mk2 Granada Estate prime to a big hit from 791 Spud. The action quietened down for a few laps until 85 Ellis had a pop at 888 Dangle. 22 Vinno had a nibble at 791 Spud, before 228 Splat attacked the limp 888 Dangle, only for 87 Dikkop to weigh in on the former. 673 Darren Fendley raced to a very comfortable win; 85 Ellis pipping 699 Nelson on the closing laps for second.

Heat 2 saw a bigger field of 32 cars. The Gladiators were the first to show as they attacked 552 Blacknuts. 960 Rossco rattled in 787 Soft Lad. 664 Gump tboned 201 Turkish. 552 Blacknuts dished a head on to the spun 201 Turkish. A back straight pile up formed, with 619 Chigga tboning 24 Sticks and 664 Gump treating 209 Tombo in to similar fashion. 313 Scottie Dogg jacked 77 Hertzog.349 Noddy jacked 552 Blacknuts, only to cop one in turn from 326 Ratty. 514 Baby dished a front wheel shot to 664 Gump. 196 Joey delivered a head on to 201 Turk. 78 Mad Mace collected 196 Joey, who recovered to meet 313 Scottie Dogg head on. 327 Maskell Jnr happily obliged to meeting 196 Joey with a head on. 196 Joey proceeded to go on a head on rampage, meeting 326 Ratty and 313 Scottie Dogg on the nose before 327 Maskell Jnr happily homed in on the former ending both of their days action. 556 Tillow jacked 327 Maskell Jnr as 326 Ratty managed to work his way through the pile up to take the win.
The Consolation raised 30 cars. 469 Baxter spun 660 Rooge. 24 Sticks jacked 273 Mad Mouse, as 58 Joe Boy blitzed 469 Baxter. 388 Lump jacked 58 Joe Boy, only to come under attack from 132 Bobbles. 660 Rooge went in on 388 Lump, as 328 Lathan jacked 537 Bruno. The home straight saw a pile up develop. 388 Lump dished a head on to 514 Baby. 787 Soft Lad jacked 58 Joe Boy. 662 Dalts jacked 787 Soft Lad. 273 Mad Mouse went in on 514 Baby before the race was brought to a halt to clear the pile up. 132 Bobbles spun 884 Filmer on the restart, as 388 Lump jacked 77 Hertzog. 49 Loz laid into 388 Lump in a Shark revenge. 228 Splat set about 49 Loz, only to cop one in turn from 513 Harvey. 103 Jacko set about 49 Loz. 328 Lathan went into the last lap around half a straight behind the leading 331 Boxer Jack, but a ballsy last bend move saw him snatch the win.
Down to 20 cars for the Final. 22 Vinno buried 326 Ratty and 75 Corey, triggering a small pile up. 791 Spud and 328 Lathan shared a head on. 326 Ratty went on oppo jacking 791 Spud on three occasions. 513 Harvey jacked 328 Lathan. 49 Loz jacked 513 Harvey. 247 Bro went on oppo jacking 791 Spud. 103 Jacko spun 49 Loz. 326 Ratty went in for another 3 jackings on 791 Spud, who at this point was waving the former in with a foam hand. 513 Harvey jacked 326 Ratty. 85 Ellis stopped the leading 331 Boxer Jack. 514 Baby gave a head on to 699 Nelson. 247 Bro jacked 699 Nelson. 103 Jacko went in on 49 Loz. 513 Harvey jacked 247 Bro, and then treated 326 Ratty to the same. 247 Bro tboned 513 Harvey in a revenge hit. 75 Corey gave a head on to 556 Tillow, who immediately tboned the former in a revenge attack. 597 Ashman won via some serious use of the infield banking, and was naturally dq’d for doing so. 78 Mad Mace inherited the win ahead of 331 Boxer Jack and 556 Tillow.
The Alcomers raised 24 cars. 349 Noddy spun 552 Blacknuts who then copped a head on from 201 Turkish. 201 Turk delivered a front wheel shot to 960 Rosco. 514 Baby jacked 326 Ratty. 662 Dalts jacked 514 Baby. 388 Lump went in on 662 Dalts. 349 Noddy jacked 552 Blacknuts. 132 Bobbles administered a shot on 144 Godfrey. 24 Sticks delivered a big jacking to 201 Turk. 556 Tillow jacked 632 Reedy Jnr. 388 Lump tboned 228 Splat. 331 Boxer Jack blitzed 24 Sticks as 552 Blacknuts steamed in on 201 Turk before the race was brought to a halt. The race resumed with 349 Noddy running 132 Bobbles into 632 Reedy Jnr’s empty car. 17 Chiefy jacked 108 Squeeky; 388 Lump did the same to 97 Jim.552 Blacknuts love tapped 349 Noddy. 662 Dalts gave a head on to the leading 331 Boxer Jack. 388 Lump jacked 331 Boxer Jack. 664 Gump jacked 388 Lump. 17 Chiefy jacked 664 Gump. 247 Bro gave a head on to 514 Baby, and then went on to do similar to 664 Gump. The race was declared with no way through the pile up. 331 Boxer Jack was given the win ahead of 664 Gump and 388 Lump. The DD was straight up with 4 drivers looking to kill their cars (17 Chiefy, 328 Lathan, 699 Nelson and 247 Bro.) 247 Bro and 17 Chiefy shared a lame head on. 328 Lathan jacked 247 Bro. 699 Nelson had cruelly expired before landing a blow on anyone. 247 Bro weighed in on 328 Lathan and took the win.
