75 Unlimited Bangers travelled to the Fun Coast for the much anticipated Pre 85 Skegness Team Reunion on Sunday 17th June. The reunion meeting bringing with it teams that hadn’t been seen together for a while, as well as some top motors. This coupled along with just over 20 Micro Bangers and Saloon Stock Cars in support would go on to deliver a solid meeting.

The first round of heats for the Unlimited Bangers were split into 1/3 cars, so 27 cars hit the track for Heat 1. 43 Bish attacked 862 Kingston. 810 Nugget spun 455 Finney. 43 Bish set about 831 Wally. 525 Ginge spun 476 Rosco. 440 Pedro attacked 917 Jones. 812 Winter caught the spun 831 Wally head on. 04 Mikey delivered a head on to 917 Jones. 159 Mr Clumsy jacked 04 Mikey. 583 Weeksy drove through 159 Mr Clumsy. 100 Cock ran in 525 Ginge. 440 Pedro tried an attack on 602 Mr Moody, but ran in to the lame 04 Mikey. 583 Weeksy blasted 478 Chucksy. 583 Weeksy attempted to lean 602 Mr Moody to the middle resulting in 602 Mr Moody running him into the infield tyres through the doors. 180 Sparky raced to the win in his rapid Bentley Mulsanne. 159 Mr Clumsy was deemed the Best Entertainer after the public vote. 100 Cock was also nominated for the entertainer award.
Heat 2 for the Unlimited Bangers raised 22 cars. 171 Westy Jnr followed in 152 Mr Grumpy. 323 Storr jacked 171 Westy Jnr. 200 Noon buried 421 Nutty Nige. Bears revenge was swift as 266 Odd Job jacked 200 Noon. 880 Naisy went in on 323 Storr. 409 Carlos spun 521 Ace Ash and got tangled up resulting in 421 Nutty Nige blasting the former. 421 Nutty Nige went on to attack 200 Noon. 521 Ace Ash jacked 152 Mr Grumpy. 171 Westy Jnr delivered a big shot on 421 Nutty Nige who was tangled up with 200 Noon. 617 Overy and 77 Patch weighed in hard on 421 Nutty Nige, 617 Overy continued to deliver a huge head on to the spun 266 Odd Job. 521 Ace Ash jacked 617 Overy. 521 Ace Ash administered a rear wheel shot to 617 Overy. 760 Joey attacked 521 Ace Ash, spinning him to the middle. 77 Patch went in for a head on to 266 Odd Job.433 Smith spun 384 Goldie. 77 Patch went thundering in on the nose of 421 Nutty Nige. 33 Magic creamed to the win for Team Blitz; the entertainer going to 77 Patch unsurprisingly – 171 Westy Jnr and 521 Ace Ash also nominated.
Heat 3 was the last in the first round of heats for the Unlimiteds which raised 21 cars. 702 Jimbo and 222 Matty collected the infield tyres. 247 Bro removed 198 Banjo. 141 Dutton jacked 222 Matty. 625 Lunchbox attacked 125 Grandpa. 209 Haresign tboned 125 Grandpa hard. 247 Bro spun 211 Mister Nös and ran into 573 Oggie. 625 Lunchbox jacked 212 Eddie. 211 Mister Nös spun 573 Oggie. 247 Bro followed in 769 Englestone and then spun him for 625 Lunchbox to jack him big time and then spit him onto the middle. 360 Jackstar took the win with the 3 litre boys taking a fair amount of the spoils, with 625 Lunchbox gaining the race entertainer – 247 Bro and 212 Eddie being nominated as well.

Down to 16 cars for Micros Heat 2. 634 Marty followed in 82 Big T as the green flag dropped. 41 Louis and 284 Baggsy tangled. 277 Tebbsy spun 792 Stevie G. 792 Stevie G jacked 294. 410 Calvert jacked 792 Stevie G. 327 Little Legs attacked 248 Ashbridge. 327 Little Legs set about 203 Moldjord to move up to 4th. The Mob youngster 118 Kenneth Scollon raced to the win to make it a worth while trip.

Unlimited Heat 4 saw 31 cars make the track which was now a 1/2 cars format. 433 Smith ran in 603 Cooper. 478 Chucksy thundered in 100 Cock. A pile up formed on turns 3/4, where 625 Lunchbox drove through a Bear. 232 Waterboy attacked 573 Oggie. 211 Mister Nös jacked 917. 433 Smith jacked 211 Mister Nös in turn but Bonös revenge was swift as 769 Englestone jacked 433 Smith. 476 Rosco spun 439 Sutty but got caught up with the spun 573 Oggie head on leaving open to a massive shot from 625 Lunchbox. 321 Chatty Man put 769 Englestone’s wheels up behind his ears only to cop one in turn from 812 Winter. 625 Lunchbox drove through 812 Winter. 43 Bish was on hand to avenge his Wild Boyz running mate blasting 625 Lunchbox. 603 Hitman went in on 43 Bish with the latter taking further abuse with a jacking from 93 Scooby. 36 Misfit blitzed 93 Scooby before the action quietened down. 247 Bro took the win for 3 Litre and their points were boosted with 625 Lunchbox being deemed the crowd’s best entertainer – 812 Winter and 36 Misfit also being nominated.
The Unlimiteds Heat 5 raised 22 cars. 440 Pedro jacked 200 Noon before the green flag dropped. 171 Westy Jnr followed in 409 Carlos which also resulted in Stinkbridge running mate 318 Wilf rolling on the entry of turn 3 calling for an immediate red flag. The restart saw 09 Psycho follow in 611 Bieber. 525 Ginge spat 78 into the tyres. 09 Psycho ran 611 Bieber through the side of 78 big time. 200 Noon tboned 09 Psycho going up on two wheels. 09 Psycho delivered an on oppo jack up to 200 Noon. 591 Blower attacked 09 Psycho. 09 Psycho jacked 200 Noon. 194 Cecil spun aside 180 Sparky for 2nd place who recovered to jack 440 Pedro. 33 Magic took an impressive win as he won by a straight. The Entertainer Award Nominations were 440 Pedro, 200 Noon and 297 Linton with Pedro being deemed the most deserving of the award.
At this stage 3 Litre lead with 42 points; only a slender lead over the two man Blitz team who were on 36 points ahead of Grey and Black on 34.
The Micro Bangers Final saw 14 cars return.752 Grumpy Jnr put himself away early on ending his race. 460 Tongue turned 203 Moldjord fencewards. 410 Calvert followed in 491 Jake. 210 McKee spun 363 Matty H, with 460 Tongue duly jacking 363 Matty H. 277 Tebbsy spun 460 Tongue for the lead where he held on to take the win with only four going the distance.

Whilst there was a short wait for the teams in the pits to work their magic on the cars to ensure as many were in the final as possible some ‘special’ awards were announced. The Material Team was viewed to be The Mob C; whilst the Best Painted Team were the Bong Gang adding some extra points to their tallies. 831 Wally, 180 Sparky, 82 Big T, 09 Psycho, 409 Carlos, 476 Rosco, 439 Sutty, 194 Cecil, 36 Misfit and 211 Mister Nös were all recipients of individual merit awards.
The Final raised 37 cars with 09 Psycho attacking 478 Chucksy from the off. 611 Bieber ran in 828 Sharpey. 318 Wilf jacked 831 Wally and 171 Westy Jnr did much of the same to 09 Psycho. 625 Lunchbox blitzed 611 Bieber. 226 Youngson lost a wheel tangling with 36 Misfit as 760 Joey ruined 831 Wally just before the race was stopped to retrieve the awol wheel. The restart saw 583 Weeksy attack 212 Edwards spinning him into the path of 439 Sutty who met him on the nose. 525 Ginge spun 702 Jimbo as 212 Edwards shed a wheel.433 Smith attacked 917 Jones as the race was paused once again to retrieve another lose wheel. The restart saw 525 Ginge have a nibble at 360 Jackstar as 760 Joey set about 440 Millsy. 525 Ginge ran into the back of 433 Smith. The team tactics began to take shape with 360 Jackstar wait up for and spin 2nd placed 194 Cecil, whilst the Epic Dreamers began assisting Blitz. 439 Sutty jacked 525 Ginge with 04 Croft going in on 439 Sutty. This allowed 360 Jackstar to deliver a big shot on 439 Sutty. Meanwhile the rapid 33 Magic took his hatrick ahead of 82 Big T and 194 Cecil whilst the Entertianer was given to 360 Jackstar. What this meant for the Points is that Blitz took the overall honours and Grey and Black also leap frogged 3 Litre for second with the latter having to settle for third overall after putting up a valiant effort. The other entertainer award nominees being 439 Sutty and 04 Croft.

Only 3 cars made it on track for the Micro Bangers DD which turned into a bizzare affair.41 Louie and 792 Stevie G met in a big head on, killing both cars immediately although the latter took the brunt of the hit over the drivers front wheel resulting in him seeking medical attention so 702 Jordan Eagle was given the victory as last man running without even having to lay a scratch on his car.
The Unlimited DD faired better with 16 cars coming out on track. 232 Waterboy run in 77 Patch from the off as The Bears and Team Black continued to trade blows. 321 Chatty Man gave a head on to 04 Croft, although Stinkbridge revenge was swift thanks to a jacking from 455 Finney. 232 Waterboy and 625 Lunchbox tangled with 159 Mr Clumsy driving through the latter’s Lincoln. 478 Chucksy attacked 455 Finney. 409 Carlos went in on 478 Chucksy. 211 Mister Nös delivered a big shot to 409 Carlos splintering the 740 Hearse. 93 Scooby attacked 232 Waterboy and continued to blast 211 Mister Nös with a rear wheel shot. 297 Linton attacked 525 Ginge, as 455 Finney tboned 232 Waterboy. 702 Jimbo spun 77 Patch and then jacked 297 Linton. 77 Patch rewarded 232 Waterboy with a head on for his troubles.525 Ginge and 862 Kingston sandwiched 455 Finney as 297 Linton blitzed 862 Kingston. 702 Jimbo went in on 297 Linton to win the DD and he celebrated by driving through 93 Scooby.455 Finney was awarded the entertainer to cap off an awesome day. The meeting showcasing how team events were from an era sadly left behind although the announcement that the meeting shall happen once again in 2019 to a slightly different format will please many.
