Kings Lynn – 3/6/23 – 1500 Bangers East Anglian Team Championship & Unlimited Bangers – Meeting Report

Saturday 3rd June saw the Unlimited Bangers return to the Adrian Flux Arena for another World of Shale Qualifier, with around 45 cars in attendance. 222 Matty High piloted a smart Jaguar X300 and 51 James Licquorice had a well presented Jaguar S Type, whilst 178 Kieran Bowman returned his Cadillac Fleetwood from the Ipswich BWS round. The 1500 Bangers were also in attendance for their East Anglian Team Championship – Team Blue & Black with some smart efforts among their ranks.

The Unlimiteds were out first for their White Top Heat. 279 Bradley Bowman, 224 James Burrows and 222 Marty High were amongst the early spinners, as the race got off to a quiet start. 129 Joe Skutela bested 51 James Licquorice for the lead at around the half way stage, but the latter fought back to spin the Predators driver to immediately regain the lead. 129 Square Head was swiftly back into the fray and retained second place. 224 Buggsy Jnr attempted to land an attack on the leading 51 Licquorice, but failed to connect – Licquorice proceeding to win the race and then home in for a solid head on to the former, making a mess of the Previa. 129 Square Head weighed in on 51 Licquorice in turn, before 199 Shaydy Gough leathered 224 Buggsy Jnr to end the race.

The first Heat for the 1500 Bangers started relatively calmly, although 10 Chris Wick was dumped fence-wards by 910 Jack Rookard. 621 Jamie Barrett spun 332 Callum Henderson. 12 Troy Cobbett removed 62 Harvey Webb. 828 Jordan Sharpe dumped a pack of cars in under the scoreboard, and was duly spun aside in turn by 116 Nat Cohn. 743 Kavan Barton delivered a hit on the nose of 828 Sharpey. 100 Callum White, who racing under 23 for the evening after Sonny Parsons suffered an injury in the opening Unlimited heat, attacked 500 Ryan Gilding. This also claimed 994 Craig Keeley. 257 Ben Waddingham homed in on 395 George Hill. 608 Lenny Murkin and 275 Joel Bond had offs along the back straight. 444 Harvey Law came to a halt on the entrance of the home straight and was blasted by 591 Jack Giddings. 257 Benji rattled 591 Giddz into 828 Sharpey. 589 Simon Smith attacked 260 Ricky Hodson. Hodson then came under fire from 910 Rookard, before 311 Garry Lown laid into 100 Cock. 119 Davey Cox spun the luckless 260 Hodson. 66 Liam Gelsthorpe set about 311 Golden Boy, who put the brakes on allowing 664 Steve Spindley to set about the former. 107 Taylor Pratchett dumped 260 Hodson into Gelly, as 69 Brad Bartram raced to the win.

279 Braderz, 440 Peter McVay and 699 Aaron Nelson were early casualties in the second Unlimited heat. 350 Liam Webster put 791 Nicky Young under pressure. 548 Alex Utting went round as 331 Jackson Whitehead and 830 Lee White crashed out. 146 Dan Wigman set about 178 Kieran Bowman, eventually spinning him, only to get spun in turn by 299 Tommy Callaghan. 130 Joe Gladden spun 279 Braderz. 271 Ashlun Woods turned 130 Gladden left, with Gladden swiftly rejoining the fray. 625 Josh Gooch attacked 419 Laura Quadling, with 148 Ian Redden also tangling with the pair. 146 Wiggy dumped 279 Braderz into the armco under the scoreboard. 130 Gladden spun 350 Webster and was then spun himself a lap later by 299 Callaghan. 791 Spud emerged from the infield to deliver a head on to 299 Callaghan. 146 Wiggy collected Callaghan. 62 Harvey Webb took the victory, his maiden Unlimited victory. 247 Lee Clarke concluded the action with a stonking hit to 791 Spud.

The second 1500 heat saw 119 Cruncher the first to show, spinning 893 Owen Greenhalgh. 332 Henderson attacked 349 Lewis Price. 910 Rookard met the on oppo 257 Benji for a solid head on. 349 Noddy had a pop at 444 Law. 829 Jay Sharpe set about 495 Aston Gibbons with a hit on oppo. 267 Tommy Wright attacked 349 Noddy. 100 Cock and 829 Lil Sharpey then combined to stop 495 Tyrone, with the latter pairing sharing a hard head on. The reds then coming out with 12 Troy Cobbett the victor.

Heat 3 for the Unlimited Bangers begun with 229 Harry Cobb and 137 Shaun Chaplin crashing out on turn 4. 199 Shaydy had 92 Lee Edwards around as 350 Webster spun 51 Licquorice. 589 Gonna spun 229 Cobbster. 455 Ricki Finney tagged the back end of 198 Zach Clements’ Merc which sent the latter spinning. 247 Bro spun 51 Licquorice. 247 Bro continued to put the bumper in as he worked his way through the order, next removing 165 Ben Randell. 148 Ian Redden racing to the win this time around.

The Final for the 1500 Bangers started in chaotic fashion as most of the pack steamed in on turns 3/4. 910 Rookard weighed in on 10 Warren Lown. 116 No Luck Nat piled 12 Cobbett and 69 Brado into the melee, before 591 Giddz steamed in on 100 Cock. 828 Sharpey leathered 591 Giddz, before copping one in turn by 551 Brett Jackson. 828 Sharpey homed in on 260 Hodson. 479 Joel Allen got it all wrong going for Sharpey and clipped 100 Cock at some pace, nearly rolling himself. 500 Ryan Gilding attempted an attack on 349 Noddy, but failed to connect. 828 Sharpey tboned 479 Jooble on oppo. 910 Rookard and 30 Bubba met in a solid head on, as 267 Tommy Wright attacked 444 Law on oppo. 743 Kavan Barton ran 349 Noddy into the pile up, with 107 Pratchett going in on Big Gav. 829 Lil Sharpey homed in on 107 Pratchett. 116 No Luck Nat spun and was collected by 231 Alex Smith. 828 Sharpey ran 356 Sam Hildon into the on oppo 994 Ginge. 349 Noddy delivered a rear wheel shot to 829 Lil Sharpey. 267 Tommy jacked 107 Pratchett, with 743 Big Gav also doing the Gladiators man. 828 Sharpey tboned 349 Noddy on oppo. 743 Big Gav ran 444 Law into 275 Joel Bond, as 608 Lennie Murkin took the win which secured the victory for THP7. 9 Ben Cox took second place with 589 Simon Smith third. The Sharpe Boyz & Ben (+ Cock) were the winners overall of the entertainer standings.

Into the DD, where 332 Henderson laid into 214 Osborn, before coming under fire himself from 69 Brado. 214 Osborn spun 69 Brado. 267 Tommy set about Osborn, the latter then going in on 332 Henderson. Henderson and Osborn then shared a head on. 267 Tommy homed in for a solid head on to 214 Osborn. 332 Henderson delivered a stiff hit to 267 Tommy on oppo to take the win.

Unlimited Bangers ended the day’s action. 419 Mossop went round under pressure from 830 Lee White. 331 Jackson Whitehead spun 353 Sean Mullins. 188 John Reeves and 625 Gucci tangled on turn 3. 279 Braderz had decided he had enough of trying to do laps and connected with a shot on oppo to 350 Webster, and took a hit in turn from 548 Big Al. 823 Jamie Murrell meanwhile raced to the win, another to take their first Unlimited win; 62 Harvey Webb taking second in a great meeting for him and 455 Ricki Finney taking third.

The DD commenced with 178 Slim homing in on 229 Cobbster. 419 Mossop weighed in on 279 Braderz, before 198 Clements attacked 229 Cobbster. 198 Clements then set about 419 Mossop. 279 Braderz attacked 229 Cobbster on oppo, with 198 Clements going in on the Predators man before getting one in turn from 419 Mossop. 178 Slim delivered a head on to 198 Clements. 625 Gucci weighed in on 224 Buggsy Jnr. He then killed off the Previa to claim the victory and round off the action for the evening.
