The Bangers return to the Adrian Flux Arena in an old school night with a trip down memory lane for drivers and fans alike. Numbers for each class may be slightly on the lower side, but looking at the names set to compete, it will certainly be a case of quality!
The 2L class of Nissan Bluebirds, Nissan Primeras, Vauxhall Cavaliers and the like. Trackstar World Champion 57 Max Stott heads the ranks, and is likely expected to be out in a Bluebird, which he always goes well in. Stotty was a winner at the recent CrashAttack Reunion at Skegness in a Bluebird, and you can expect to see him among the front runners. 549 Phil Smith was the final winner at this event last year, and he’ll have to hope that brother 589 Simon Smith continues his fine run of recent form to keep the honours in the Gladiators camp. National Champion 26 Paul Lovick, 608 Lenny Murkin, 12 Troy Cobbett, 566 Tony Pallett and 20 Joshua Machin will be others looking towards the business end of the field.
The bookings boast plenty of entertainers, with a nostalgic throwback with several Aftermath drivers set to compete. Ex-Trackstar World Champion 515 Gareth Flatters was Nissan Primera powered at the aforementioned CrashAttack meeting, which was run to similar rulings. He was one of the key entertainers that day and will be looking to replicate that again alongside the returning 391 ‘Ol Matey’ Wayne Shinn, 401 Riley Shinn and 664 ‘Gump’ Ryan Sutcliffe. It’s great to see ‘Dibble’ 41 Kevin Freestone back too. The early scrap for the Entertainers League is already warming up, and you can expect front-runners 828 Jordan Sharpe, 51 James Licquorice, 214 Connor Osborne and 69 Brad Bartram will be bringing the heat.
The Almera and Sunny Bangers also feature this evening. Last year’s meeting final was won by 112 Brad Wright – he’ll be looking to replicate that feat. This type of meeting is ideal for 478 ‘Weasel Jnr’ Craig Royal, who usually goes well and will be among the leading contenders. 248 Jamie Blything and 339 Jack Garrod are others to keep an eye on.
23 Sonny Parsons will be among the leading entertainers. There’s often carnage involved where Sonny is concerned, so don’t take your eyes off him for too long. There are plenty of drivers from the Wild Boyz and CrashZone camps booked in, with both factions never shy to get stuck in. 420 Matthew Jode and 829 Jay Sharpe are ever reliable for a crash or several.
They are joined by the stars of the future in the Junior Bangers. 701 Riley Marsh will be looking to continue his impeccable start to the year which has seen him claim both final wins here so far. He currently has a narrow lead in the National Points over 291 Liam Waterfall, and both will be looking to get as high up the field as they can. Their race craft is truly brilliant to watch – keep watching them as they work their way up the order. 556 Lincoln Douglas, 78 Lee Macey Jnr and 270 Shane-Lee Murkin have all had strong displays recently which has seen them rewarded with promotion through the ranks, and it will be interesting to see how they fair. 609 Levi Murkin and 455 Lexi Finney have the experience on their side to produce some fine results, whilst it be interesting to see how some of the lower graded drivers get on with an impressive 41 drivers booked in. 339 Jack Garrod Jnr is a very promising youngster and nearly raced to a fantastic win here last time out.
With the 1300 Stock Cars added into the mix too, it’s a full action fixture which should produce the goods all evening. We hope you enjoy the meeting and your time here at the Adrian Flux Arena.
