It’s all about the Stock Cars this Saturday here at the Adrian Flux Arena in a double-header championship special. The National 2L Saloon Stock Cars are set to contest their National Championship, whilst it’s the British for the 1300 Stock Cars with big grids expected for both, and what is a very rare occasion, the Unlimited Bangers find themselves as the support on the night.
618 Stuart Shevill Jnr will make the long journey down to defend his National Championship title. Stuart will be brimming with confidence given his recent results, having taken the win in the Final at Skegness last weekend. Stuart is joined on the grid by four previous champions, with 116 Diggy Smith, 428 Lee Sampson, 902 Brad Compton-Sage and 26 Tommy Barnes set to feature. It’s Tommy’s brother, however, that has been the one to beat this year on the Norfolk shaleway. Timmy (131), is the current leader of the Kings Lynn Track Championship, and the current European Champion will be looking to continue that form. 389 Ryan Santry is right on his heels in the standings and is a driver itching to get that first major title that has elapsed him so far. Ryan is definitely knocking on the door of that big win and would be a popular victor this evening. 341 Austen Freestone, 474 Michael Kent, World of Shale Championship 120 Luke Dorling, National Points Champion 349 Michael Allard, 760 Joey Reynolds and 129 Will Morphey are among other strong performers so far this year here on the shale.
The 1300 Stock Cars will be competing for their British Championship which is set to be a lively affair. 502 Tyler Bloomfield will be the favourite going in to the meeting having demonstrated blistering form over the last few months which sees him around 20 points clear at the top of the standings. 167 Jimmy Morris has recently been competing in the Superstox over at Spedeworth, but remains one of the star drivers here in the 1300s at Trackstar and will be looking to add another title to his CV. 450 Luke Jackson and 673 John Moat will be other Trackstar contenders hoping to keep the title on home soil. Other race winners have included 764 Connor Spall, 888 Jeff Larke, 13 Sonny Wright, 441 Reece Legrice, 412 Jordan Gay and 401 Riley Shinn, so it really could be anyone’s. There are few battles among the contenders which could cause sparks to fly. Expect English Champion 137 Curtis Tebbenham to square off with 301 Luke Smith, whilst World Champion 303 Jacob Bromley and 600 Carl Waterfield have no love lost between them.
The Unlimited Bangers are set for another World of Shale Championship qualifier. A clash in meetings sees many of the ‘bigger’ names of the sport down the road at Mildenhall competing for the 2L ORC World Championship which will although those that have supported the event tonight the opportunity to gain some valuable points and work their way up the order. 790 Nathan Young heads 123 Kieran Gray and 673 Darren Fendley in the standings, and all eyes will be on whether those front two can break away in the standings. 299 Tommy Callaghan, 459 Blake Platts, 271 Ashlun Woods and 209 Tom Waller all feature in the top 10 and will be looking to creep further up that order, whilst many will be searching some entertainer awards. 100 Callum White and 51 James Licquorice lead the charge and you can expect to see them among the action. 335 Lee White, 84 Will Cole and 791 Nicky Young are also regulars to having a crash. It will be interesting to see whether 267 Martin French brings a bit of machinery again. He had the Excalibur Limo at the East Anglian Championship back in March which came to the attention of 100 Cock, and they may cross paths once again.
It’s set to be a top night of action, with the potential of two new champions being crowned.
