The 2L National Bangers return hot off the back of an all-action evening here three weeks ago. They are joined by the 1500 Bangers, who make their first appearance since the lively Icebreaker event, and they will be joined by the Unlimited Lady Bangers who are out on the Norfolk shaleway for the first time this year.
The 2L Bangers will compete in another World Qualifying Round, where points are awarded not only for race position, but entertainment value also. 69 Brad Bartram continues his strong momentum from last season, sitting at the top of the table with a nice lead over 370 Johnny Cobbold. It was Johnny who raced to victory in the meeting final on March 11th, and he’ll be looking to continue that form tonight. Ex-British Champion 116 Nat Cohn took an Alcomers victory at the last meeting, and sits third in the point standings, and will be pushing to keep up with the front two. 2L World Champion 57 Max Stott is yet to appear this year, but is booked in for tonight and will be looking to make a good impression.
In the Entertainer ranks, local favourite 178 Kieran Bowman leads the way. He was among several drivers on top form on March 11th and will likely be in a similar mind frame here once again, as he looks not only to keep the top spot in these entertainer standings, but also aid his defence of the overall Trackstar Entertainer League. That is currently being lead by World of Shale Champion 828 Jordan Sharpe who is in impeccable form currently, and was the winner of the fan vote on March 11th. 51 James Licquorice has also enjoyed a strong start to the 2023 campaign, and he’ll be one to keep an eye on for action. Although we mentioned them in relation to the race points side of things, 69 Brado and 370 Cobbold currently reside second and third in the 2L Entertainers standings also. Expect them to join the likes of 129 Joe Skutela, 210 Callum McKee, 257 Ben Waddingham and 519 Lee Middleton in getting stuck in to the action.
The 1500 Bangers return to the Adrian Flux Arena where they always put on a top show. 248 Jamie Blything was the final winner at the Icebreaker event and always goes well in the 1500 class. 26 Paul Lovick took one of the biggest wins of his career back in December lifting the 1500 National Championship, and he will be looking to get this year’s campaign off to a strong start. 608 Lenny Murkin was part of the TKC team that took the 1500 Icebreaker honours, and he had solid results all day. Expect to see Lenny among the front runners. It was THP7 who were runners-up at the Icebreaker, and Saloon Stock Car star 730 Deane Mayes is back once again tonight alongside 30 Brandon Mayes. They’ll be fast contenders, as will 231 Alex Smith who has been going from strength to strength in the 1500 Bangers and was a heat winner in February. The likes of 337 Ashley Garrod, 444 Harvey Law, 556 Matt Tillow and 566 Tony Pallett will be battling towards the front of the pack. 19 Reggie Turnbull makes his adult debut and will be looking to make an impression.
85 Danielle Ellis heads the bookings for the Unlimited Lady Bangers after a strong season last year which saw her take the double with the gold roof and national points. 477 Amy Steele, 232 Samantha White and 100 Emma Mullins kept a good fight up all season and will be looking for much the same this year. 713 Lauren Annetts and 488 Codie Reeves are well recognised names in the banger scene, and are more than capable of wins. 584 Kim French usually follows in husband Martin’s shoes and brings some form of cool machinery.
We have a bit of something for everyone tonight, and will certainly whet the appetite for what is shaping up to be an all-action April here at the Adrian Flux Arena.
