The annual Halloween Carnival night at Kings Lynn is always a ‘Spooktacular’ event. In what will be a busy night for the Unlimited Bangers, where 84 drivers are currently set to feature over the night. A jam packed fixture including the All Hearse & Limo ‘Supernatural Championship’, 25 & Under GB Championship and King of the Fens.
The night starts with the Supernatural Championship, where around 19 drivers are set to bring a limo or hearse. World of Shale Champion 828 Jordan Sharpe makes his first Unlimited appearance on home soil since that impressive victory, and he’ll be motoring a Volvo Hearse. The Aftermath v Team Black rivalry could potentially see another chapter, this time in limos as 100 ‘The Cock’ Callum White and 101 Cieran Harmer are expected to be in Jaguar Limos, whilst 555 ‘Dirty Harry’ Gelsthorp is set to be limo powered also; perhaps the Ford Fairline Limo we’ve previously seen hit the track. The Gladiators are expected to bring a trio of Jaguar Limos, most likely the ones from the World Final earlier in the month. Freestone duo 40 Lester and 342 Ryley will be worth keeping an eye on. Expect them to be out in a Ford Scorpio Limo and Hearse, likely to be getting stuck into the action. 267 Martin French has shown before that he can pilot more or less anything round Kings Lynn. He is due to be bringing a Volvo Ambulance. Other noteworthy material includes a Westy for 224 James Burrows and a Senator Limo for 437 Connor Burbridge.
466 Dalton Steele returns to try and defend his 25 and Under GB Championship, and he will certainly start as a strong favourite to retain. There’s several talented drivers booked in though that will be looking to change that; nearly half of the booked in drivers being eligible for the race. 69 Brad Bartram isn’t someone we regularly see in Unlimited Bangers, but he has a standout season. Brad sits second in the National Points, and is close on the heels of leader 830 ‘Stretch’ Lee White. Not only that, he is currently third in this years entertainers league and has already made a strong start to next year’s campaign leading the 2L Shale World Entertainers points after a top display last meeting out here in the 1500s and 2 Litres. 178 ‘Slim’ Kieran Bowman is a huge fan favourite here at the Adrian Flux Arena, and it’s clear to see why. A top role model on and off track. He always finds the time to acknowledge and talk to young race fans in the pits and then delivers both top racing and crashing displays out on track. He’s overdue a title win this year after coming close on numerous occasions, and hopefully he secures one tonight. 224 Lewis Canham is a top young talent. He had a hattrick here on World of Shale night, and will looking for the same form once again. Joining them are the likes of 634 Ben Green, 585 Luke Holdsworth, 229 Harry Cobb, 271 Ashlun Woods and 506 Danny Mitchell who are all top pilots.
We will be seeing a new King of the Fens title winner this evening, with defending champion 760 Joey Reynolds still absent through injury. 209 Tom Waller was the runner-up last year and has continued consistent form on the shale here all season. The grid features three previous title winners; 209 ‘Tombo’ being one of those, with 178 Slim and 136 Adrian Court being the others. The quality of drivers booked in tonight will serve to be more ‘treat’ than ‘trick’, just observing the names provides a ‘who’s who’ of bangers – two-time World Champion 217 Sid Madgwick, two-time World of Shale Champion 247 Lee Clarke, Gladiator main man 549 Phil Smith, ex-World Champion 327 Mick Maskell Jnr, 362 Johnny James, Spedeworth Points Champion 400 Lee Kingsnorth, Supreme Champion 639 Tye Williams, ex-2L Shale World Champion 673 Darren Fendley, ex-Thunderbolt champion 284 James Head, Team V legend 310 Jon Nicholson, 2L Caged Open Winner 714 Paul Smaldon and more. On top of that, there is a plethora of drivers that will be looking to put on a show. It’s great to see 349 ‘Noddy’ Lewis Price on the list. One of the original Gladiators will look to do the colours proud once again. 420 Matthew Jode has been in superb form in the 1500 Bangers all season, and expect to see him and 419 Laura Quadling getting among the action. 107 Taylor Pratchett sits second in the entertainers league and will be getting in the way in his Jaguar Limo. 51 James Licquorice is always up for some top ‘bongor smoshes’ and will be looking to earn himself some entertainer awards, or beer tokens, whichever way you look at it. 7 Cade Bond, 115 Joe Bull, 182 Reece Tingle, 257 Ben Waddingham, 800 Jacob Rushton and 862 Reece Eglington always ensure they do their upmost best to entertain the crowd whenever they enter the track.
It really should be a top night of action, with the added kids fancy dress track walk, firework display and the always entertaining Robins, it is guaranteed to leave all the family ‘frightfully’ delighted.
