An incredible response for this year’s awards saw nearly 2200 votes come in across the month. Here are you winners…

National Bangers

Driver of the Year
1st – 639 Tye Williams – 28.3%
A superb year for Tye saw him at the business end of many races with multiple race wins, the biggest of which coming when he drove to a superb victory in the Unlimited World of Shale Championship at Kings Lynn back in September. Consistency was key for Tye coming second place in the Spedeworth WQ Points, as well as topping the RWD Points at Mildenhall. Tye has become somewhat of a Supra specialist but has had his fair share of top material to boot also and we look forward to seeing what’s in store for Tye in 2025!

2nd – 67 Rickie Beasley – 15.2%
Rickie spent the most part of the year rocking the gold roof gained from winning the PRI World Championship last season. Rickie had been grafting away early on in the season, but really hit form in the summer winning the Yarmouth and Taunton wildcard finals back to back. Rickie worked his way up to 3rd in the World Final from 46th on the grid before suffering a puncture in the late stages. Rickie remains one of the leading names within the sport.

3rd – 178 Kieran Bowman – 11.8%
Kieran has solidified his name among the sport’s elite over the past few seasons. The Predators man secured the BWS Entertainers title but displayed some top driving ability over the year also. He completed the ‘hattrick’ of wins on his visits over the water taking the Tippwreck, Shamwreck and Irish Championship. ‘Slim’ also had a race win at the Unlimited War of the Worlds event at Kings Lynn which aided the Predators team in winning the event, and guided his Crown to the victory in the Brett Fry Memorial at Smallfield. It’s been a year of collecting trophies and it looks like the Bangers may be taking a background role as he explores the Saloon Stock Car scene a little more but it’s always good to see Slim and the team around.

4th – 388 Stevo McGrath – 7.1%
It’s 4th place in the Driver of the Year category again for Stevo. Stevo secured the silver roof once again, making it a third year in a row of winning the DMC Points Championship in what was a highly competitive season in Northern Ireland. Stevo was also part of the side that lifted the War of the Worlds title at Kings Lynn – another race winner on the day aiding the team in lifting that honour.

5th – 670 Max Eaton – 6.6%
The future of racing is certainly bright with the likes of Max among the ranks. The 18 year old showed a very experienced head all season to take the Spedeworth Points Championship – an honour that is no mean feat given the level of quality among the ranks week in week out. Max showed his ability at most tracks he competed at this year with numerous race wins and will be a talent to keep an eye on for years to come.

6th – 570 Jordan Cumming – 6.1%
’Dino Jnr’ was another to win a points title securing the silver roof from Mildenhall and had some top results throughout the year including winning the Wildcard on World Final night securing his spot on the grid for next year’s main race.

7th – 186 Lewis Fasey – 5.1%
The Autospeed scene has been dominated by Lewis where he secured the points championship with ease and ended the year winning the ‘Old Skool’ Supreme Championship. Lewis showcased his abilities to the wider audience winning his heat at the Taunton BWS and made his first appearance in the World Final race.

8th – 577 Alfie Lee – 5.0%
Alfie had his crowning moment of his career taking the 2L Shale World Final at Kings Lynn in a top drive. He had previously come close to a big win earlier in the year where he led a large portion of the 2L World at Mildenhall. He followed that up with a 5th place finish in the World Final to cap off a solid season.

9th – 459 Blake Platts – 4.2%
Blake is another top young gun of the sport. 2024 saw another strong season from the Silver Boys driver as he continuously looks close to that big win. He’s won numerous races across the year and was on the podium of the Unlimited World of Shale. Could 2025 be the year we see Blake win a major title?

10th – 266 Martin Hooikammer – 3.6%
For those that haven’t visited Emmen yet, what are you doing? Martin has been one of the top names on the Dutch shale for a few seasons now and certainly knows how to pilot his way around it. Martin has had race wins and entertainer awards throughout the year showing that The Maniacs driver is a top all-rounder.

11th – 327 Mick Maskell Jnr – 2.7%
When we talk about drivers being at the top of their game, longevity is a key element. Mick made his way on to the World Final grid for the 8th time after booking his spot by winning the Wildcard at Aldershot early in the year. The 2019 World Champion is another that has had numerous race wins over the year and shows no signs of slowing down.

12th – 69 Brad Bartram – 2.2%
The Trackstar scene has a loyal domestic following, and Brad has been a driver that has supported Trackstar for many seasons now. Brad set out to win the Trackstar Points and achieved just that with some top drivers on the Norfolk shaleway. Brad stepped out of his comfort zone to do more RWD meetings and has shown improvement there also, and qualified for his maiden World Final at Ipswich too. Not only did Brad win the points, he found time to put a shift in on the entertainer’s side of things too.

13th – 238 Martjin Kleine – 2.1%
Martjin had a strong season over at Emmen taking many race wins on his way whilst racing alongside brothers Stefan and Ruben, and the rest of the DutMieNiks boys. The team had a venture across to Kings Lynn for the Unlimited War of the Worlds where they squared off against the local contingent. ‘Mini Poale’ has cemented himself among the lead names at Emmen.

Entertainer of the Year

1st – 360 Jack Reynolds – 16.2%

‘Jackstar’ has had another busy season with lively appearances all over the country and trips to Ireland and Holland among them also. He’s taken many wrecks home over the year including some top machinery – the 3 Litre meetings down at Aldershot being particular highlights. It was at the Handshaker meeting where he limped his Datsun along all day and it’s performances like that which have clearly gained the attention of fans. Jack even managed an outing in a Saloon Stock Car at Skegness in the summer where he showed off his driving ability which we rarely get to see, managing a Heat win in the Rob Speak vehicle.

2nd – 838 Jamie Peters – 13.9%

Jamie has been one of the best out and out entertainers this year. He took a respectable third place in the BWS Entertainers standings without the need of any rare vehicles or ‘material’ but instead relied on hard hitting displays in his Mercedes. He found time to visit his local of Taunton on occasions also and as can be seen below, put in equally destructive performances. Jamie brushed all that aside when it came to World Final night, however, surprising many when he put a top drive in for a 4th place finish.

3rd – 178 Kieran Bowman – 12.8%

We’ve already mentioned Slim’s driving accolades this year, but the most part of the season saw him putting in some crashing displays on route to taking the BWS Entertainers title for the second time in his career. Kieran was aided in the impressive machinery he raced – the Lincoln Continental (pictured below) and Toyota Crown S130 Estate from the Mildenhall rounds being stand out motors, as well as the Mk11 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo from the Pre 90 Kev Waller Memorial which ended the day with the front end sky high after being well involved in the action copping the attention of the Beasley’s. Those cars are just a few of the top motors used – adding a raw look Mk2 Ford Granada, Austin A60, multiple Mercedes W210s, another Crown Estate, Mk5 Ford Cortina and others in what was a busy season for The Predators man.

4th – 77 Aaron Charles – 9.6%

‘Aario’ remains one of the most underrated drivers in the scene despite mixing it with the best of them for several seasons consistently. He works tirelessly on keeping his Lexus IS200’s going throughout the meeting alongside his team, often off the back of a transit recovery truck as opposed to the more seen hi-ab lorry. Aario has dabbled with a couple of Jaguars throughout the year – the one used at the Arlington BWS going home rather banana’d courtesy of 246 Aston Burt. His never give up attitude matched with the lack of worry as to who he is crashing in to reflects the respect he has garnered over recent years. A real credit to the sport.

5th – 51 James Licquorice – 9.3%

What a year James has had! He finally claimed the Trackstar Entertainers Points after coming close on multiple occasions, and by some margin also! Many Kings Lynn meeting saw James competing in multiple classes taking some impressive dedication as well as top pit work. There wasn’t many meetings on the Norfolk shaleway where James didn’t come away with an entertainer award. James has had a couple of race wins also throughout the year, and made his debut in the Unlimited World Final where he more than held his own and finished the race after leathering 129 Joe Skutela. James has also been involved in team wins with the Dover Boys, and then enjoyed blowing his teammates up as was the case at the Pre 80 meeting at Kings Lynn where he jacked 188 John Reeves. It’s that ability to be mates off track, and not get involved in the seriousness of the sport and just have a laugh and enjoy himself that has gained James many fans over the years. The other factor being that there is very rarely a moment you don’t see him beaming with a smile. The sport could definitely benefit from having more drivers adapt James’ attitude.

6th – 199 Shaydy Gough – 6.9%

Shaydy is another hard hitter that isn’t afraid who is on the receiving end of the front bumper. He started the year off in style with some top displays at the Ipswich and Northampton BWS rounds before going a little quiet. He made up for lost time towards the end of the season with repeatedly strong performances including the Champion of Champions and Caged! Open, the latter seeing him win the entertainer of the day award in the 2 Litre Bangers. Should Shaydy have a year this year that seems him put performances like last year but on a more frequent basis, he could certainly feature higher among this award.

7th – 777 Arian Vorkink – 5.8%

The Vorkink brothers had another blinder of a year in 2024. Their dedication to compete in all BWS rounds, but then to also race on the following day where it worked out in buckled motors is testament to their desire to entertain. We felt that Arian had the better year of the two and with competition strife for nominations unfortunately couldn’t include Dennis, but collectively they put on a top show which ultimately saw the pair achieve their dream of being on the World Final grid alongside one another.

8th – 625 Joshua Gooch – 4.6%

The A1 boys collectively had a superb season with all having their own stand-out moments. ‘Gucci’ caught the eye with regular full contact displays with the Arlington and Taunton BWS rounds being particular high points, as well as a top one man show in the Cash or Card race on World Final night where many felt the wrath of his Scorpio.

9th – 278 Shaun Brokenshire – 3.9%

Most of the 2024 season saw ‘Bean’ stick to his local promotion of Autospeed where he won their Entertainers League. Bean wasn’t shy of taking a busted motor home regardless of the class. He was one of the star performers of the Taunton BWS meeting and the Bright Sparks meeting – the latter seeing him leave with a sorry looking Volvo. Bean opted for something a little different on World Final night, piloting a very nice looking Mk10 Jaguar for the occasion.

10th – 99 Lee Clarke – 3.1%

Lee probably doesn’t get the recognition he deserves because of his location for racing. The Scottish scene lacks a bit of representation across the social media, but ‘Spud’ is definitely a driver force in trying to keep it alive and as entertaining as possible getting stuck in to the action where he can and regularly takes home a wrecked car.

11th – 834 Jan Van Osch – 2.7%

There were many contenders from the continent that could have featured among this category, but it was felt that Jan had showcased it both ‘home and away’ with displays at Emmen and on his travels. ‘Balletje’ was awarded the car of the day for his Mk1 Ford Granada XL at the Blue Oyster Trophy which he also put to good use earning him an entertainer award, and featured heavily on appearances in the UK including both days of the Kev Waller Memorial and the Goldie Testimonial meeting at Skegness; all of which in top machinery to boot!

=12th – 166 Luke Gillbard – 2.6%

Luke, like Bean, is a driver that has helped put Autospeed back on the map. He is another that isn’t shy of getting stuck in, and showcased at the Taunton BWS round that he isn’t shy of mixing it with some of the sport’s elite. There was a time when DWO ruled the roost at their local, and there weren’t many keen to repay the favour, but Luke exchanged hits with the outfit at the aforementioned meeting among other occasions at St Day and Taunton.

=12th – 671 Lander van der Steen – 2.6%
=14th – 626 Yoni Cornelis – 2.1%

Team OFF stepped up this year with Lander and Yoni in particular delivering some impressive crashing displays over at Emmen. Lander favouring Lincolns in the Unlimiteds including a few Limos which he wasn’t shy on flat-packing other drivers with, as well as a pair of Mondeos. He was one of the top entertainers of the FWD World Cup. Yoni also put on some top displays. The Blue Oyster Trophy meeting being his particular highlight where he scooped the Best Wrecker award for the day.

=14th – 910 Jack Rookard – 2.1%

Jack has been one of the top entertainers at Trackstar for a few years now, and managed to get a top three in the entertainers league just from competing in the 1600 Bangers & 2 Litre Bangers where he put in some top displays taking numerous displays. It would be cool to see if Jack ventures further afield or into the Unlimiteds to see what he can offer from there, but remains another great asset of the Trackstar scene.

16th – 842 Jack Perkins – 1.8%

Unfortunately for Jack, someone had to come bottom of the category, but that isn’t reflective of his performances this year. Jack has braved using something a little different over the course of the year, but can fall foul of being a little eager to get that big shot in which he leaves him open to being blitzed himself. His Mercedes W211 Hearse in May at Taunton was blitzed by 838 Peters. He had a couple of sport’s firsts along the way – a Peugeot 3008 and a Mazda Tribute both in the 2 Litre Bangers which both went home suitably blitzed. Jack’s efforts earning him a second place in the Autospeed Entertainers League.

Most Improved Driver

1st – 414 Jimmy Craig – 22.5%

Jimmy had a strong season being consistent among the points places securing his spot in his maiden World Final. Jimmy drew the illustrious pole position in the grid draw and from there never looked back. A faultless drive from Jimmy saw him pretty much take a flag-flag victory. Not only was it his biggest win to date, it was his first Unlimited win, and what a time to pull that out of the bag! Jimmy has gone on to display the gold roof with pride, and showcased the World was no fluke coming through with strong finishes at the Christmas Cash In at Arlington including a third place in his Heat. 2025 looks set to be a busy year for the World Champion as he looks to attend wherever possible starting with double duties at the Heavy Metal Classic.

2nd – 62 Harvey Webb – 21.1%

Harvey follows running mate Jimmy in that he really stepped up his game last season. Harvey had a few race wins and took a second place in the 1600 World of Shale at Mildenhall and was always there or there abouts in the places. Age is something on Harvey’s side – he is still learning and could be a serious contender for titles next year.

3rd – 662 Jared Roe – 7.7%

Jared showed his dedication this year racking up 31 meetings and with more track time comes more experience. Jared has definitely matured out on track with multiple race wins down in the South-West. He took a 3rd in the 2 Litre Winter Open and took the entertainer of the meeting too. Jared’s Triumph Dolomite went home quite the wreck after the Bright Sparks meeting. He’s mixed Nationals with Rookies this year and will be interesting to see whether he makes more outings in the Nationals this season.

4th – 117 Lee Reynolds – 6.8%

5th – 526 Jack Denikiewicz – 5.5%

6th – 751 Bianco Waterschoot – 5.4%

7th – 58 Joe Brown – 5.3%

8th – 935 David Gurney – 5.1%

=9th – 5 David Haugh – 4.2%

=9th – 56 Ricky Clarke – 4.2%

12th – 130 Joe Gladden – 3.4%

13th – 902 Matthew Nicol – 2.9%

14th – 271 Ashlun Woods – 2.1%

Best Newcomer

1st – 701 Riley Marsh – 28.6%

Riley adapted to the step up from Junior Bangers very quickly, making the switch from the FWD to RWD appear seamless with a series of strong results seeing him qualify for the World Final in the first time of asking. Riley was part of DGL team that were victorious at the Suffolk Open team event and he looks more than comfortable making the adjustment between various classes. The future of the sport bodes well with drivers like Riley, Harvey Webb and the list of nominees below.

2nd – 707 Alfie Nottingham – 22.8%

Alfie graduated from the Junior Banger ranks half way through the year, and being frank, was ready for the step-up long before that. He went from smashing Micras and Fiestas to bits, to smashing the front end of Jaguars off whilst delivering damage to other drivers. A born entertainer is Alfie, and the Aftermath team looks to be under a bit of a resurgence with Alfie at the helm.

3rd – 06 Tommy Rawsthorne – 14.1%

Tommy has mixed competing in the 1600s and National outings since graduating from the Juniors where he among one of the leader names and quick wherever he raced. Tommy has already piloted some cool cars with an A60 and a Rolls Royce too, and shows keenness to travel from the North-West. He recently raced a Jaguar X300 at Arlington’s Christmas Cash In which could be a hint that he is going to try his hand in the Unlimiteds on a more competitive scale and certainly displays signs he could be one to watch for 2025.

4th – 713 Oscar Preston – 11.0%

5th – 750 Rhys Parrin – 8.1%

6th – 133 Malakie Cullum – 7.8%

7th – 18 Corey Karkeek – 7.1%

Most Dedicated Driver

1st – The Vorkinks – 211 Dennis & 777 Arian – 27.5%

Little can argue that there were many more deserving of this award than the Vorkink brothers. The Bonos boys once again trapsed across Europe with their Volvos in tow to all BWS rounds with their hearts set on being on the World Final grid together. They achieved just that, and their parade lap showed how much it meant to them with their orange flares and beaming smiles. They even managed some meetings on home soil.

2nd – 639 Tye Williams – 19.2%

Tye was up and down the country attending meetings wherever he could, and was a catalyst in pulling drivers to several non-ORC events also. Trips north to Cowdenbeath and Warton alongside a busy Spedeworth world qualifying campaign and outings at Skegness, Smallfield and Standlake to name a few.

3rd – 178 Kieran Bowman – 12.9%

Kieran may feel a little hard done by as you’d have probably expected him to get a large portion of the votes. The Predators man clocked up 38 meetings using 36 fresh vehicles amassing around 8000 miles of travelling and god knows how many hours in the unit. 3 trips to Ireland as well as competing at Emmen and Smallfield in a weekend – the thought alone makes me tired. Slim even managed a couple of outings in the National Saloon Stock Cars, and that looks set to be where his main focus lies for the 2025 season. We hope, however, that we get to see as much as we can of Slim in a Banger.

4th – 360 Jack Reynolds – 12.0%

5th – 77 Aaron Charles – 7.8%

6th – 133 Terry Hill – 6.2%

7th – 24 Mark de Laat – 6.1%

8th – 459 Blake Platts – 4.7%

9th – 51 James Licquorice – 3.7%

Team of the Year

1st – BRCM – 16.4%

BRCM started the year off right securing the Unlimited Icebreaker title and didn’t look back thereafter. 252 Steven Bugler won the Northampton Wildcard and raced to second place in the PRI World Final. Brother 262 Rob Bugler secured the Mendips Points title whilst 440 Macauley Mills came runner-up. 333 Charlie Randell and 103 Lee Bugler also had good years getting well in the mix and stepping up where the team required. 81 Rick Bugler even had an outing as the team remains a dominant force in the National Banger scene.

2nd – DWO – 15.9%

It was a good year for the Devon based outfit – 341 ‘Jonesey’ Andrew Jones and 838 Jamie Peters faired strongly in the BWS Entertainers League with some top crashing displays. Peters showed everyone his ability to race too, taking a 4th in the World Final. The duo have been joined at points by ‘Pikey’ 190 Steve Bailey and ‘Nemesis’ 239 Steve Carter and it would be great to see the quartet all out on track on more occasions in 2025.

3rd – The Predators – 14.7%

The silverware was shared all across The Predators camp this year. 178 Kieran Bowman had the lions share winning the Irish, BWS Entertainers League, Shamwreck and Tippwreck whilst ‘Knuckles’ 519 Lee Middleton made up for the year previous by taking the 2L World title at Mildenhall. 279 Bradley Bowman won the meeting final at the Big Van session at Kings Lynn in August. There was success on the team front also, with them securing the Unlimited War of the Worlds event courtesy of race wins from Slim and regular guest 388 Stevo McGrath. Slim captained ‘The Redators’ alongside Matt Black at the inaugural staging of The Draft with the team coming out on top.

Rookie Bangers

Driver of the Year

1st – 305 Alfie Cornish – 7.9%

Alfie has a superb 2024 season which had the right mix of crashing and racing – the latter he did in fine form when it mattered piloting his Focus to the win in the World of Shale at Mildenhall. He followed that up with a 3rd place in the 1600 World Final behind brother Scott in a well presented Volvo V50 coming from 65th on the grid. When he wasn’t have a ride around, he was getting in the thick of the action with on track battles with the likes of 49 Blake MacDowell, 561 Ben Payne and 350 Ryan Yeo.

2nd – 44 Lucas Goligher – 7.0%

Lucas became the second member of his family to secure gold following in his father’s footsteps when he raced to the win in the 1600 World Final at Ipswich in November. Golly had a top year on home soil too. A year that saw he take second place in the Irish Championship behind Dad, John, and was on the podium in the King of Aghadowey and Spring Classic titles also. Lucas was on the podium again at the Irish Open, a meeting which saw all members of the family take a victory on the day – Lucas laying claim to the Alcomers that night.

3rd – 7 Aaron Charles – 6.4%

Aario is more renowned for his crashing exploits when it comes to the BWS scene. He is a regular at Standlake in the Street Bangers and is more associated with taking the chequered flag there. Aario secured the Street Bangers points title and was part of the winning CoF team at annual Easter Monday April meeting.
