The 2L Bangers make a welcome return to the Adrian Flux Arena for their War of the Worlds team event in what is the last opportunity for some track time before their World Final next month.
Team Mates are back to defend the title they secured last year, with the trio of 28 Mac Bell, 699 Aaron Nelson and 830 Lee White setting their sights on reclaiming the honours – you can read all about them later in the programme. The three make up 3rd, 4th and 6th in the World Qualifying and will be keen to remain high among those positions.
Dover Boys are always strong performers at these team events. 188 ‘Victor’ John Reeves regularly assembles a top group of drivers and this year is no different. Victor has the experience on side to know what it takes to win these events, and he has relied on most of the usual suspects once again. Entertainer Points leader 51 James Licquorice is a valuable asset to the team, bonding well with Victor and having both the ability to nab a win, or equally, cause some serious damage to any rival teams if the need is there. 337 Ashley Garrod is the current leader of the 2L Points and will be a strong favourite to scoop the points for the team here tonight. 69 Brad Bartram has been drafted in and is a fantastic steal for Victor and the team. Brad is one of the most versatile drivers on the Trackstar scene. He heads the National Points after some top displays of recent, and will be pushing to break away at the top of the table. If that plan fails though, expect to see him joining Licquorice in delivering some big shots. Bears man 321 Kieron Fry completes the line-up. He has been enjoying a few visits to Kings Lynn this year and is a welcome addition once again – Chatty Man was one of the stars of The Draft last month.
Trackstar World Champion 178 Kieran Bowman will be keen to make an impact on his last 2L meeting on home soil before his title defence, and will lead a strong looking Predators team into battle. 519 ‘Knuckles’ Lee Middleton will showcase his gold roof for the first time having taken the win in the 2L ORC World at Mildenhall a few weeks ago – Knuckles remains one of the most underrated drivers of the 2L class. Regular Predator 87 Damien Matthews is always reliable in these events, whilst recruitment for tonight has seen TGB man 180 ‘Sparky’ Mark Foster and TMT driver 623 ‘Tricky’ Ricky Hutton get drafted in for guest roles and what superb additions they are to the team which could prove vital in taking the honours.
The Scrapyard Screamers love a 2L outing, and collectively can be a very strong force to reckon with. Cullum brothers 132 Archie and 133 Malakie were standout performers from our March meeting for the class, whilst 314 Luke Rawlings rides high in the points standings. 219 Ben Lewis-Thompson, 126 Daniel Bowley and 296 Thomas Jennings are all capable of a race win, but can also be assets on the entertainment front if required.
Matt’s Mafia sees Gravediggers pairing 12 Coby and 112 Daz Prestage joined by the very quick 12 Troy Cobbett as well as 687 Mark Cross and 17 Billy Taylor who obviously didn’t make the cut for the Screamers in what is another strong looking side. Quite often these teams assembled together can create a surprise, and the five here certainly have the ability to provide an upset.
The Outsiders are a strong team, more likely to be involved in the crashing side of things, however. 50 ‘Munch’ Simon West has been doing a lot of talking on Facebook, not that he has needed to given that he never shies away from a crash, but it will be good to see him out in the thick of things. Cruickshanks duo 73 Dean and 83 Liam are others to look out for when the action gets going, and they are joined by 118 Kane Shaw and 359 Danny Smith.
It’s not a 2 Litre meeting without a bit of Essex added in. 552 Karl ‘Blacknuts’ Douglas is Mr 2L Bangers, and he brings with him a strong collective in Team Yesssssss Geez. 466 Steve Hackett and 403 Daniel Jordan are used to victory lane here at the Adrian Flux Arena, as is 248 Jamie Blything who remains severely underrated. 81 Carl Scarrow is a regular of the 2 Litre events here, and it’s great to see a rare National outing for 59 Tom Greenstreet; a driver we don’t really get to see much on the Norfolk shaleway. He is one of the top names of the Spedeworth 1600 scene but it will be interesting to see how he gets on in the 2 Litres.
32 Connor Byram is a sole ranger for Team V, and he’ll be looking to mix it with the Scrapyard Screamers no doubt. Fair play to Connor for making the journey down on his own.
It’s shaping up to be a corker, with some strong looking line-ups. Can Team Mates hold on to their title, or will there be a new army come out on top?
